2011 Young Artists’ Recital

The Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival announces its 2011 Young Artists’ Recital, to be held May 7 at 3:00 p.m. at Martin Chapel, in the Seminary Building at Eastern Mennonite University. Join us in hearing outstanding high school musicians from the Shenandoah Valley and beyond in this free concert that is open to all. Selected to perform in this year’s event, these talented young musicians will present solo and ensemble works from the Baroque era to the present.

Performers from the Harrisonburg/Rockingham county area include Evan White, a ninth grade pianist from Eastern Mennonite High School; Perry Maddox, oboist and a senior at Broadway High School; Emily Maldonado, harpist and a homeschooled junior; Mariette Southard, violinist and a sophomore at Turner Ashby High School; and Caroline Walsh, a flutist from Bridgewater and a junior at Stuart Hall.

From beyond Rockingham county, performers include Mary Wynn Willson, a homeschooled sophomore violinist from Fort Defiance, Va; Courtney Stout, a violinist from Waynesboro and a sophomore at Wilson Memorial High School in Augusta county; Irene Lee, a violinist and a junior at Albemarle High School; and three students from Charlottesville High School: Isabelle Schoppa, a sophomore cellist; and sibling violinists Vivek (sophomore) and Shaarada (freshman) Srivatsa.
